Valedictory Award Winners

Fresher of the Year:
Kar Yi Lam

This award is presented to an individual who has surpassed expectations in their first year through active engagement in College life and extracurricular activities.

Originally from Singapore, Kar Yi is pursuing a degree in physiotherapy. She is not only an active Climate Crew member but also played a key role in starting the Dance Club. Other than clubs, Kar Yi has also been a regular attendee at Formal Halls, sporting events and more.

Citizen of the Year:
Jessica Sarich

This award recognises a resident who works quietly behind the scenes, supporting and inspiring fellow residents. Through their actions, this individual makes a positive impact on both the College and the broader community.

Jessica is originally from Perth and is pursuing a Bachelor of Actuarial Science. Beyond her role as a Residential Advisor, Jessica has also made a positive impact on the community through her active participation in clubs such as SERAG and the Volunteering Club.

Collegian of the Year:
Phumulo Mpofu

This award recognises a resident involved in many aspects of College life and/or the broader community. The recipient is also known for their adeptness at rallying and supporting others.

Originally from Zimbabwe, Phumulo is pursuing a Civil Engineering Degree. He is actively involved in clubs, volunteers at the College for events such as Curtin Open Day and has also attended Formal Halls and Faculty and Industry Dinners.

2023 Valedictorians

Bec Revill

Bec has completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy and in the coming year, she aims to travel and secure a position within a hospital in Perth. Her most memorable moment at St Cat’s was Valedictory Dinner from last year.

Cassidy James

Cassidy completed an Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design and Merchandising. In the upcoming year, she intends to pursue a career in the fashion industry, combining her passion for design with a desire to explore diverse art techniques from various cultures through travel. Her favourite memory of St Cat’s is Assassins’ Week.

Chengyuan Fang

Chengyuan completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Architecture and in the upcoming year he intends to return to China to pursue a career as an Architect. Simultaneously, he plans to also travel and explore his home country. His favourite memory of St Cat’s is the warm welcome he received on his first day at College.

Genevieve Gan

Genevieve completed a Master of Advanced Practice (Clinical Leadership) and anticipates returning to work next year. The highlight of her time at St Cat’s was Secret Friends’ Week.

Jasmine Lee

Jasmine earned her Bachelor of Commerce with a specialisation in Marketing. In the coming year, she has exciting plans to work for Disney Plus in Singapore. Among her favourite memories at St Cat’s is meeting Diego’s adorable College dog, Bruno, and spending time with him.

John Ong

John completed a Bachelor of Commerce with a focus on Marketing and in the coming year, he plans to embark on a Master’s Degree at UWA. One of his fondest memories at St Cat’s is Humans vs Zombies week.

Michelle Chung

Michelle completed her Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Honours) and is set to continue her role as a Project Engineer in a pharmaceutical company next year. Some of her most memorable moments at St Cat’s include Formal Halls, participating in the Running Club and spending summers at the College.

Mohammad Anas

Mohammad completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Civil and Construction. He has already secured a position with the Civil Engineering company ARUP, where he will be involved in designing roads and highways for Western Australia next year. His favourite memory at St Cat’s is his time serving as Residential Advisor.

Nav Garg

Nav has successfully completed his Bachelor of Actuarial Sciences and has aspirations to commence his Honours Degree. His most memorable moment at St Cat’s is the experience of meeting everyone at College for the first time and becoming a part of this wonderful community.

Honourable Mentions

Stephanie Yeung
Stephanie has completed a Bachelor of Psychology and in the coming year, she will be pursuing a Master’s Degree in Education (Primary Education) at Curtin University. Among her favourite memories at St Cat’s was the time she sat at the high table during the Entrepreneurship and Bloom Formal Hall.

Joshua Simpson
Joshua completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery during his time at St Cat’s. In the upcoming year, he intends to commence work as a Junior Doctor with the Royal Perth Hospital. His favourite memory at St Cat’s was witnessing the camaraderie among fellow residents as they became good friends and demonstrated genuine care and concern for each other.
